needs a drilling
equipment and it is particularly expensive, furthermore it is not normally
executed in fine soils.
|
gives particular
satisfying data in almost all grounds, but cannot be used in gravely
layers without damage risks. The use of the piezocone (electrical probe
with a water pore pressure sensor) allows to obtain useful data for
geological and hydrogeological purposes (CPTU test).
|
can be used also in
gravely soils but it is not normally executed in low consistency cohesive
grounds such as silt, clay, peat.
The
efficiency of the DPSH penetrometer has been measured at two different
sites in soils ranging between sand and gravel and unsaturated silty clay.
The
average
measured efficiency (73%) allows to normalize the measured N20 values
simplifying the correlations with other in situ measurements and mainly
with NSPT.
